University of California entrusted Esco BSCs to aid their cutting-edge research on childhood diseases

Located in the School of Medicine with an area of 85,882 square feet, the Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Building at University of California, San Diego provides a space for the university’s cutting-edge biomedical research, particularly in the area of childhood diseases. The building was built with a $12 million gift from the Leichtag Family Foundation.

The core mission of this research center is to unravel the causes of diseases of infancy and childhood, leading to the development of new treatments. Since predisposition for many conditions that develop in adulthood can be identified in the earliest stages of life, this research holds the potential for preventing and curing adult diseases as well.

Through the research conducted at UCSD, it is hoped that new cures will be discovered, and in the process, young research doctors and scientists will be educated, supported and motivated while they seek to advance the health and well-being of children.

To accomplish this noble cause, University of California, San Diego entrusted Esco Technologies to supply the biological safety cabinets, installed in numerous labs.

Most of the Esco cabinets installed here is the Labculture® Class II Type A2 biosafety cabinets. Equipped with the latest generation ECM blowers, these cabinets represent the pinnacle of safety and energy efficiency that are important to California research facilities. The blower provides stable airflow that automatically self-compensate for building voltage fluctuation and filter loading, to ensure constant user and product protection. Moreover, the built-in anti-microbial coating reduces the bio-burden inside the cabinet, and further enhanced user safety.
